Data Availability and Reproducibility Policy
Data Availability and Reproducibility Policy
Journal of Green Science and Technology (JGST) supports transparent research reporting and access to the evidence necessary to understand, evaluate, and, where appropriate, reproduce published findings.
This policy applies to original research articles and other manuscripts involving the collection, generation, analysis, or synthesis of research data.
-
Data Availability Statement
Authors must include a Data Availability Statement explaining the availability of the data supporting their findings.
The statement must specify whether the supporting data:
-
are publicly available in a repository;
-
are included in the article or supplementary materials;
-
are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request;
-
are subject to access restrictions; or
-
are not applicable because no new data were generated or analyzed.
Where data are publicly available, authors must provide the repository name and a persistent identifier, DOI, or direct URL. Any conditions governing access or reuse must be explained.
A statement that data are available upon request must accurately reflect the authors’ ability and authorization to provide those data.
-
Supporting Data and Materials
Where ethically and legally permissible, authors are encouraged to deposit supporting data and materials in an appropriate institutional, disciplinary, or general-purpose repository.
Depending on the research, supporting materials may include:
-
experimental measurements and laboratory results;
-
survey instruments and anonymized responses;
-
field observations and monitoring data;
-
spatial datasets and relevant metadata;
-
analytical code and computational scripts;
-
model inputs, parameters, and validation data;
-
research protocols and calculation procedures; and
-
other materials necessary to evaluate the reported findings.
Data and files should be accompanied by sufficient documentation, including variable definitions, units, file descriptions, and relevant processing steps.
Datasets and software should be cited appropriately when used as research sources.
-
Reproducibility of Research Methods
Authors must describe their methods in sufficient detail to allow readers to evaluate the research and, where feasible, reproduce the analysis.
Descriptions should identify relevant research designs, sampling procedures, materials, instruments, calibration methods, analytical techniques, technical standards, assumptions, and validation procedures.
Computational studies should identify the software and version used, relevant model settings, input data, boundary conditions, and procedures for assessing model performance.
Where artificial intelligence or machine learning forms part of the research methodology, authors must describe its role, relevant tools or models, data preparation, evaluation procedures, and limitations sufficiently for scholarly assessment.
Reproducibility requirements are applied according to the characteristics of the research and do not require disclosure of information that authors are prohibited from sharing.
-
Restricted and Sensitive Data
JGST recognizes that some data cannot be made openly available because of privacy, informed-consent conditions, ethical obligations, contractual restrictions, commercial confidentiality, security considerations, or intellectual property rights.
Authors must explain the nature of the restriction in the Data Availability Statement and, where possible,
