Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism Policy

Edunomic: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan Ekonomi is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and ethical scholarly publishing. The journal has a strict policy against plagiarism and other forms of inappropriate use or misappropriation of intellectual work.

All manuscripts submitted to Edunomic must be original works and must not have been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another journal or publication venue.

Plagiarism Screening

All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism and similarity screening using appropriate plagiarism detection software. The screening process is conducted to identify potential cases of plagiarism, inappropriate text reuse, and inadequate citation.

The similarity score is used as a screening indicator and not as the sole basis for determining plagiarism. Editors may examine the sources and context of similarities identified in the manuscript to determine whether they constitute legitimate citation, common terminology, methodological expressions, or potential plagiarism.

Forms of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • copying or reproducing another person's words without proper quotation and citation;

  • presenting another person's ideas, concepts, arguments, data, findings, or results as one's own without appropriate acknowledgment;

  • substantial paraphrasing without proper citation;

  • unauthorized reproduction or use of tables, figures, images, or other intellectual works;

  • self-plagiarism, including substantial reuse of previously published text, data, or findings without appropriate citation or disclosure;

  • duplicate or redundant publication; and

  • other forms of inappropriate appropriation or reuse of intellectual work.

Similarity Threshold

Edunomic applies a maximum similarity threshold of 20% as a general screening guideline. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold may be returned to the authors for revision or may be rejected, depending on the nature and extent of the similarity.

However, a similarity score below 20% does not automatically mean that a manuscript is free from plagiarism. Likewise, a similarity score above 20% does not automatically constitute plagiarism. The final determination is based on editorial assessment of the similarity sources, context, citation practices, and overall originality of the manuscript.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts demonstrate substantial originality, appropriate citation practices, and a clear scholarly contribution.

Actions for Plagiarism

If plagiarism or significant inappropriate text reuse is identified before publication, Edunomic may take one or more of the following actions:

  • request clarification or revision from the authors;

  • return the manuscript for substantial revision;

  • reject the manuscript; or

  • take other appropriate actions in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policy.

If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the journal may conduct an investigation and, where appropriate, publish a correction, expression of concern, or retraction of the article. The journal may also notify the authors' affiliated institution or other relevant parties when necessary.

Through this policy, Edunomic: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan Ekonomi reaffirms its commitment to academic honesty, originality, responsible citation, and the protection of intellectual contributions.
