Author Guidelines

Jurnal Konstruksi dan Infrastruktur (JKI) publishes scholarly articles in the fields of civil engineering and planning in accordance with the aims and scope of the journal.

Authors are required to carefully read and follow these guidelines before submitting a manuscript. Manuscripts that do not comply with the journal's requirements may be returned to the authors before entering the peer-review process.

1. General Requirements

Manuscripts submitted to JKI must be original scholarly works that have not been previously published and are not being considered for publication by another journal.

The manuscript must fall within the aims and scope of JKI, including structural and materials engineering, geotechnical engineering, water resources engineering, transportation engineering, construction management, and other relevant areas of civil engineering and planning.

Manuscripts may be written in Bahasa Indonesia or English.

Authors are responsible for ensuring the clarity, accuracy, and quality of the language used in the manuscript. Manuscripts should be carefully proofread before submission.

Manuscripts must follow the official JKI manuscript template provided by the journal.

The recommended manuscript length is 8–16 pages, including tables, figures, and references, unless otherwise approved by the editorial team.

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the JKI Online Journal System (OJS). Submissions sent only through personal email will not be processed as official journal submissions.

2. Originality and Similarity Screening

All submitted manuscripts must represent the authors' own original work.

Manuscripts must appropriately acknowledge and cite all ideas, data, text, figures, tables, and other materials obtained from other sources.

All manuscripts submitted to JKI will be screened using similarity-detection software before proceeding to the peer-review process.

As a general editorial guideline, manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 25% may be returned to the authors for revision before further editorial processing.

However, the similarity percentage is not used as the sole indicator of plagiarism. The editorial team will evaluate the similarity report by considering the source, context, citation practices, and nature of the overlapping material.

Plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, inappropriate manipulation of data, and other forms of research misconduct are handled in accordance with the JKI Publication Ethics Policy.

3. Double-Blind Peer Review and Manuscript Anonymization

JKI applies a double-blind peer-review process.

Authors must therefore ensure that the manuscript file submitted for review does not contain information that directly identifies the authors.

Author names, affiliations, email addresses, ORCID identifiers, acknowledgments that reveal author identity, and other identifying information should be entered into the OJS metadata or provided according to the journal template and editorial instructions.

The editorial office may request authors to revise the manuscript file when identifying information could compromise the double-blind review process.

Each manuscript that passes the initial editorial screening will normally be evaluated by at least two independent reviewers.

4. Manuscript Structure

A research manuscript should generally contain the following components:

  1. Title;
  2. Author information and affiliations;
  3. Abstract;
  4. Keywords;
  5. Introduction;
  6. Research Method;
  7. Results and Discussion;
  8. Conclusion;
  9. Acknowledgments, where applicable;
  10. Author Contribution Statement;
  11. Funding Statement;
  12. Conflict of Interest Statement;
  13. Data Availability Statement, where applicable;
  14. Ethical Approval Statement, where applicable;
  15. Artificial Intelligence Use Disclosure, where applicable; and
  16. References.

The exact presentation should follow the official JKI manuscript template.

5. Title

The title must be concise, informative, and accurately reflect the main content or findings of the article.

Avoid unnecessary abbreviations, formulas, overly general wording, and excessively long titles.

For manuscripts written in Bahasa Indonesia, authors should provide the title in Bahasa Indonesia and English.

For manuscripts written entirely in English, the English title is mandatory.

6. Author Names and Affiliations

Author names must be written consistently and accurately.

Each author's institutional affiliation must include the relevant department or program, institution, city, and country where appropriate.

One author must be identified as the corresponding author and must provide an active email address.

Authors are encouraged to provide their ORCID iD in the OJS metadata.

All authors listed in the manuscript must satisfy the authorship requirements described in the JKI Publication Ethics Policy.

7. Abstract

The abstract must provide a concise and accurate summary of the article and should generally contain the research background or problem, objective, method, principal results, and main conclusion.

The abstract should not normally exceed 200 words.

The abstract must not contain citations, unexplained abbreviations, figures, tables, or unnecessary general statements.

Manuscripts written in Bahasa Indonesia must provide abstracts in Bahasa Indonesia and English.

Manuscripts written entirely in English must provide an English abstract. An Indonesian translation may also be included according to the journal template.

8. Keywords

Authors must provide 3–5 keywords or key phrases that represent the main concepts of the article.

Keywords should be specific enough to support article discovery and indexing and should not simply repeat words already contained in the title where more informative terms are available.

9. Introduction

The Introduction must clearly describe the research background, scientific or practical problem, relevant previous research, identified research gap, and objective of the study.

Authors should critically discuss relevant and recent literature rather than merely provide a descriptive list of previous studies.

The Introduction should demonstrate the significance and contribution of the study to the field of civil engineering or planning.

10. Research Method

The Research Method section must clearly describe the research design, materials, data sources, instruments, procedures, analytical methods, and other information necessary to understand how the research was conducted.

The methodology should be described in sufficient detail to allow readers to evaluate the validity and, where appropriate, reproduce the study.

For research involving human participants, animals, confidential data, or activities requiring ethical approval, the manuscript must provide the relevant ethical approval or compliance information.

11. Results and Discussion

Results must be presented clearly, accurately, and logically.

Tables and figures should be used only when they improve understanding of the findings and should not unnecessarily duplicate information already provided in the text.

The Discussion must interpret the findings rather than merely repeat the results.

Authors should explain the meaning and significance of the findings, compare them with relevant previous research, discuss similarities or differences, identify limitations where appropriate, and explain the contribution of the study.

12. Conclusion

The Conclusion must directly address the research objectives and summarize the principal findings and contribution of the study.

The conclusion should not merely repeat the abstract or Results and Discussion section.

Where appropriate, authors may discuss research limitations, practical implications, and recommendations for future research.

13. Tables and Figures

All tables and figures must be numbered consecutively and referred to in the manuscript text.

Each table and figure must have a clear and informative caption.

Figures must be of sufficient resolution and quality for publication.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce or adapt copyrighted figures, photographs, maps, tables, or other third-party materials.

The source of reproduced or adapted material must be acknowledged appropriately.

Tables and figures should be placed as close as possible to the relevant discussion in the manuscript and should follow the format specified in the JKI template.

14. Mathematical Equations and Units

Mathematical equations must be written clearly and numbered when they are referred to elsewhere in the manuscript.

Variables and symbols must be defined when first introduced.

Authors should use internationally recognized measurement units and maintain consistency throughout the manuscript.

15. Acknowledgments

Acknowledgments are optional.

Authors may acknowledge individuals, institutions, laboratories, organizations, or other parties that contributed to the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship.

Funding support should preferably be disclosed separately in the Funding Statement.

16. Author Contribution Statement

The manuscript must include a statement describing the contribution of each author to the research and preparation of the article.

The contribution statement should reflect the actual roles performed by each author, such as conceptualization, methodology, data collection, analysis, writing, visualization, supervision, or project administration.

All authors remain accountable for the integrity of their respective contributions.

17. Funding Statement

Authors must disclose all financial support or research funding related to the study.

The funding statement should include the name of the funding organization and grant or contract number where applicable.

If the research received no external funding, authors should state:

“This research received no external funding.”

18. Conflict of Interest Statement

Authors must disclose any financial, personal, professional, institutional, or other relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research or interpretation of the findings.

If no conflict of interest exists, authors should state:

“The authors declare no conflict of interest.”

19. Data Availability Statement

Where appropriate, authors should provide information regarding the availability of research data supporting the findings of the study.

Data may be deposited in an institutional repository, disciplinary repository, or another appropriate research-data platform when legally and ethically permissible.

Where data cannot be shared because of confidentiality, privacy, ethical, legal, or contractual restrictions, authors should explain the reason.

20. Ethical Approval

Research involving human participants, human data, animals, or other activities requiring ethical oversight must comply with applicable ethical and legal requirements.

Where ethical approval is required, authors must state the name of the approving ethics committee or institutional review board and provide the approval number where applicable.

The editorial team may request supporting ethical documentation during the editorial process.

21. Use of Artificial Intelligence and Automated Tools

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use Disclosure

The use of generative AI or AI-assisted tools for routine spelling, grammar, language correction, or formatting does not require specific disclosure.

If generative AI or AI-assisted tools are used beyond these routine functions, authors must disclose the name of the tool, the purpose of its use, and the part of the manuscript in which it was used.

AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors. Authors are fully responsible for verifying the accuracy, originality, references, data, analyses, results, and conclusions of the manuscript. AI tools must not be used to fabricate or manipulate scientific content, data, images, references, or research findings.

22. References and Citation Style

JKI uses the IEEE citation and reference style.

Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference-management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote, or equivalent software to improve citation accuracy and consistency.

Manuscripts should contain at least 15 relevant references.

Authors should prioritize primary scholarly sources, particularly peer-reviewed journal articles, conference proceedings, standards, and other authoritative sources directly relevant to the research.

As far as possible, references should be recent and up to date, while older references may be used when they are fundamental or historically important to the research topic.

All references listed in the bibliography must be cited in the manuscript, and all sources cited in the manuscript must appear in the bibliography.

Authors should include the DOI or stable URL for references whenever available.

23. Copyright and License

Authors retain the copyright of their articles and grant Jurnal Konstruksi dan Infrastruktur (JKI) the right of first publication.

All articles published by JKI are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

Authors should read the complete Copyright and License Policy available on the JKI website before submission.

24. Article Processing Charge

JKI does not charge an article submission fee.

Manuscripts that have successfully completed the peer-review process and have been formally accepted for publication are subject to an Article Processing Charge (APC) of IDR 500,000 per accepted article.

Information concerning APC waivers and other applicable conditions is available on the official APC page of the journal.

The ability or inability of an author to pay the APC does not influence editorial evaluation or peer-review decisions.
