Uji Efektivitas Ekstrak Buah Labu Siam (Sechium edule.) dalam Menurunkan Kadar Glukosa Darah Tikus Wistar Jantan yang Diinduksi Streptozotosin

ABSTRACTDiabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease that occurs because the pancreas does not produce enough insulin. Alternative medicine that is often used for the treatment of diabetes mellitus one of them is squash because it has flavonoid content, niacin and calcium that can decrease blood glucose levels. This study was conducted to analyzing the effect of chayote extract (Sechium edule.) to decrease the blood glucose level of male wistar induced by streptozotocin. This research used experimental design, pre dan post test with control group design. 30 male wistar rats as the sample were divided into 6 groups i.e 3 control groups (normal, negative, and positive control) and 3 experimental groups that were given the chayote extract (Sechium edule.) which the dosage was 21,42,84 mg/200grBB rat. The data was analyzed by paired t test and one way annova . The results showed that fruit squash extract (Sechium edule.) With dose of 84 mg / 200grBB was effective in lowering blood glucose level with mean decrease 154,6. The conclusion is Squash extract (Sechium edule.) was effective to decrease blood glucose levels and there is a significant difference in each group with p <0.05.
