Plagiarism Policy

HERMENEUTIKA: Jurnal Ilmu Hukum is firmly committed to maintaining academic integrity by ensuring that all published manuscripts are the original work of their authors.

1. Plagiarism Screening

  • All submissions are checked using plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin or iThenticate.

  • Screening is conducted before the peer review process (pre-review stage).

  • Revised manuscripts (particularly after major revisions) may be re-screened if deemed necessary.

2. Similarity Threshold

  • The maximum acceptable similarity index is ≤ 20%.

  • Overlap from correctly cited quotations, references, legal provisions, or common terminology is not considered plagiarism.

  • Manuscripts exceeding the similarity threshold will be returned to authors for revision or directly rejected.

3. Types of Misconduct

  • Direct plagiarism: Copying text from other sources without attribution.

  • Improper paraphrasing: Altering words or sentence structure while retaining the original meaning without proper credit.

  • Self-plagiarism: Republishing one’s own previously published work without disclosure or permission.

  • Duplicate submission/publication: Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.

4. Actions Against Violations

  • Minor to moderate similarity (20–30%) → Authors will be asked to revise and improve citation and referencing.

  • High similarity (>30%) → Manuscripts will be rejected without peer review.

  • Plagiarism detected post-publication → The article will be retracted in accordance with COPE guidelines.

5. Author Responsibilities

Authors bear full responsibility for the originality of their manuscripts and must ensure that:

  • All sources are properly cited.

  • The submitted work has not been previously published or is under consideration elsewhere.
