Stuttering is generally recognized as a developmental disorder, but it can also manifest as a psychogenic disorder due to psychological or emotional factors. This study aims to examine the forms of stuttering, the psychological factors that cause it, and their impact on a person's language skills. The method used in this study was descriptive qualitative. Data in the form of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences were collected through a literature review, listening, and note-taking. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that forms of psychogenic stuttering include repetitions, prolongations, interjections, and pauses. The main factors that trigger this disorder are stress from traumatic events, emotional trauma (such as harsh parenting), and psychological disorders such as depression or PTSD. In addition, psychogenic stuttering has a negative impact on a person's language skills, including decreased fluency, difficulty expressing oneself, modifications in word choice and sentence structure to avoid stuttering, impaired pragmatic aspects in social contexts, and potential delays in language development in children. The conclusions of this study confirm that psychogenic stuttering significantly affects the communicative performance and quality of life of those affected. Therefore, treatment of this disorder requires a holistic approach that integrates linguistic aspects and ongoing psychological intervention.
