Abstract

Poetry is often used by poets as a medium to convey messages about life indirectly through simple yet meaningful language. A didactic approach is one way to reveal these values, particularly moral, social, spiritual, and educational values contained in literary works. This study aims to describe the didactic values found in the poems “Pulang,” “Dongeng Puisi”, “Apakah Kebahagiaan Itu?” “Malam Rindu,” and “Misal,” which are included in the poetry anthology Buku Latihan Tidur by Joko Pinurbo. The research method employed is qualitative, using descriptive analysis through a didactic literary approach. The data source of this study is the poetry anthology Buku Latihan Tidur by Joko Pinurbo. The results indicate that these poems contain moral values, humanity, longing, and reflections on the meaning of happiness in everyday human life. Specifically, the analysis reveals three forms of didactic values, namely explicit, implicit, and partial values, which are represented through moral, social, spiritual, and educational messages. These values are conveyed through metaphors, symbolic expressions, and reflections on everyday experiences. These findings show that poetry can be utilized as effective literary learning material in instilling character values and enhancing readers’ sensitivity to social realities and universal human inner experiences.
