Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Edunomic: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan Ekonomi Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan recognizes the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in academic writing, research, and scholarly publishing. Edunomic permits the responsible use of AI-assisted technologies as supporting tools, provided that their use is transparent, accountable, and consistent with academic integrity and publication ethics.

Use of AI by Authors. Authors may use AI-assisted tools for limited supporting purposes, including language editing, grammar and spelling improvement, translation assistance, and other technical support in manuscript preparation. AI tools must not replace the authors' intellectual contribution, critical analysis, interpretation, or scholarly judgment. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, validity, integrity, and reliability of all content submitted to Edunomic, including any content developed with the assistance of AI technologies.

Disclosure and Transparency. The use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies that materially contributes to manuscript preparation must be clearly disclosed by the authors. The disclosure should identify the AI tool used and briefly explain how it was used. Routine tools used solely for basic spelling, grammar, or formatting correction do not normally require disclosure, provided that they do not generate or substantially alter the scholarly content of the manuscript.

Authorship. AI tools, including generative AI systems, cannot be listed or credited as authors or co-authors. AI systems do not meet the criteria for authorship because they cannot assume responsibility and accountability for the accuracy, integrity, originality, or ethical implications of scholarly work.

Data, Analysis, and Research Findings. AI must not be used to fabricate, falsify, manipulate, or generate research data, references, citations, analytical results, or research findings in a manner that misrepresents the actual research process. When AI-assisted methods are legitimately used as part of the research methodology, authors must provide sufficient explanation of their use and remain responsible for appropriate verification and validation of the resulting data, analysis, or outputs.

References and Citations. Authors are responsible for verifying the existence, accuracy, and relevance of all references and citations included in their manuscripts. AI-generated references or citations must not be included without verification against the original and reliable scholarly sources.

Use of AI by Editors and Reviewers. Editors and reviewers must protect the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and the peer-review process. Unpublished manuscripts, review materials, or confidential information must not be uploaded to external AI systems when doing so could compromise confidentiality, intellectual property, privacy, or data protection. AI technologies may not replace the independent scholarly judgment of editors and reviewers. Editorial decisions and peer-review assessments must remain under human responsibility and accountability.

Research and Publication Ethics. Any misuse of AI that results in plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of data, manipulation of research findings, false citations, violation of confidentiality, or other unethical research and publication practices will be treated as a violation of Edunomic's publication ethics and may result in rejection, withdrawal, retraction, or other appropriate editorial action.
