Attempts of shallot production require fertilizers in right sorts and sufficient quantity, right
disease control and uses of suitable varieties with enviroment. The research was aimed to know:
1) the highest yield of shallot variety at treatments of certain fertilizers and fungicides, 2)
different growth and yield of shallot between treatments of liquid organik fertilizer and T.
harzianum with inorganic fertilizer and synthetic fungicides, and 3) interaction among shallot
varieties, fertilizers, and fungicide tested when seen from variables on growth and yield of
shallot.
It was conducted at rice field after planting rice at Kaligangsa Wetan Village Brebes Sub
distric Brebes Regency starting from January until March 2005. The Experimental design use
was factorial Randomized Complete Block Design with three replicates. Data were analyzed by
using F test and if significant then continued by Duncan Multiple Range Test.
The result showed 1) the Yellow variety genetically was shorter than Bima and Philipine
varieties, whereas between Bima and Philipine varieties showed indifferently in term of plant
height, 2) the three varieties tested had relatively similar response to fertilizer and fungicide
treatments for variables of disease intensity, numbers of leaves and clumps, 3) the inorganic
fertilizer yielded better plant height reaching 4,39% than the organik ones, 4) the organik
fertilizer could suppress the purple spot disease up to 6.35% compared to inorganic fertilizer, 5)
the mankozeb fungicide (Dithane M-45) could more suppress the purple spot disease until 3.19%
than T. harzianum at plant height variable, 6) the tested fungicide (mankozeb and T. harzianum)
produced similar bulb yield, either wet or dry bulb weight, 7) there was no different response
among the three varieties in treatments of fertilizers and fungicides seen from wet and dry bulb
weight variables, 8) the inorganic fertilizer produced bulb yield Bima variety (144.85 g of wet
bulb weight and 115.17 g of dry bulb weight) and Philipine variety (144.95 gof wet bulb weight
and 115.25 g of dry bulb weight) heighter when compared to Yellow variety (142.35 g of wet
bulb weight and 112.95 g of dry bulb weight), whereas the treatment of organic fertilizer did not
show differently on the bulb weight.
