Umi Trisnaningsih dan Prosodjo Soedomo, 2013. THE PRELIMINARY OF ADAPTATION AND YIELD TRIAL FOR COWPEA (Vigna unguiculata (L) Walp) IN MEDIUM LAND, MAJALENGKA DISTRICT, WEST JAVA. Local Cowpea (Tolo beans) are planted by people in the plains region of central Java Island in Southern region (medium and high land as plateau). Tolo beans are seeds smaller than glycin. But scientifically put in cowpea . Around the Province (Vigna unguiculata (L) Walp) of Jogjakarta is widely used as a mixture in the local cooking material foods is “javanise gudek†. Various colors , types and sizes, The seeds most easy found in Central Java and West Java, Eastern Section (Tasik District, Banjar , Kuningan, Majalengka, and Cirebon ). Used of a collection of 11 districts in Central Java and West Java, East part, unknown adaptability and yields potention. the result with the appearance of other characteristics . Used 11 local cultivars consisting of keleksi of areas : 1 ) Bantul - 1 , 2 ) Bantul - 2 , 3 ) Kulon Progo - 1 , 4 ) Kulon Progo - 2 , 5 ) Sleman , 6 ) Kutoarjo , 7 ) Wates , 8 ) Cilacap , 9 ) Banjar , 10 ) Brass , and 11 ) Majalengka . Using a randomized block design , comprised of 11 local cowpea cultivars from Java as treatments , with four replications . The experiments were conducted in rainfed farmers' fields , in August-October 2012 in the village Kancana (624 masl) , District Cikijing , Majalengka, soil type Latosol blackish brown. The results showed that the local Tolo beans cultivars from Kutoarjo and Kulon Progo-2 is capable of adapting Tolo beans and produce well, compared with other regions of the cultivars tested . The excellence displayed by the weight of the hight wet pod yield (60.20 and 59.35 quintals / ha) and dry (44.00 and 43.40 quintals / ha), the hight dry seed weight (28.25 and 28.00 quintals / ha).
